Kaneland jumped out to an early lead, but couldn't hang on to a bigger, stronger, and eventual tournament winner Genoa Kingston. Chad Sterkel led the scoring with 14.
Marengo 39 Kaneland 26
The Knights showed much improvement against Marengo, but still not enough to capture the win, as the Knights lost 39-26.
Sycamore 57 Kaneland 50
In the first game with all the football players back the Knights used the first half to get into basketball mode. Then finished with a strong second half, but quite enough as the Knights lost to Sycamore 57-50. Al Griffen led the Knights with 12 points.
Kaneland 49 Westmont 43
The Knights won their first game of the season as Bill McKeown scored 21 points to lead the sophomores over Westmont 49-43. It was a close game that was tied after three quarters. Then the Knights scored 17 fourth quarter points for the win.
Kaneland 44 Harvard 32
The sophomores beat the Harvard Hornets 44-32. Freshman Ryan Schrader lead the Knights with 18 points. The win moved the Knights record to 2-3.
Aurora Christian 65 Kaneland 58
The Knights fell behind by 16 points in the second half but closed it to within 3 win a minute to play but Aurora Christian hung on for a 65-58 win. Al Griffen lead the Knights with 15 points and Shawn Fuller added 14 more.
Yorkville 50 Kaneland 36
The sophomore Knights dropped to 2-5 losing to Yorkville by 14, 50-36. Billy McKeown had 8 points to lead the Knights and Al Griffin added 7 more.
Kaneland 48 Serena 47
Kaneland squeaked out a victory when with 4 seconds left Justin Wolbers hit a jumper, in the 1st round of Somonauk Sophomore Tournament.
Kaneland 58 Sandwich 43
Kaneland advanced to the third round of the Somonauk Tournament by beating Sandwich 58-43. Ryan Schrader, Bill McKeown, and Mike Balensiefen were all in double figures. The win put the Knights into the semi-finals vs. the winner of the Mendota-Newark game. Next game - Friday at 11:30.
Mendota 50 Kaneland 42
Kaneland lost to Mendota 59-42 in the semi-finals round of Somonauk Tournament. The Knights were down only by 7 at the half, but were outscored 23-7 in the third quarter. Mendota near let the Knights get close in the final quarter.
Kaneland 67 Hinckley-Big Rock 36
The Knights defeated Hinckley-Big Rock 67-36, to take 3rd place in the Somonauk 16-Team Holiday Tournament. Everyone for the Knights got into the scoring column to finish the first half of the season 5-6 overall and end up 3-1 in the tournament.
Riverside-Brookfield 42 Kaneland 41
Kaneland outscored Riverside-Brookfield in each of the first three quarters, but the Bulldogs came to life in the last quarter outscoring the Knights 13-7 for a narrow one point victory 42-41.
The Knights where lead by Ryan Schrader with 9 points and Mike Balensiefen with 8. Justin Wolbers added 7 more and Wayne Shaw chipped in with 6. Balensiefen hit a pair of treys.
