To the Coaching Staff and Parents of the Boys' Varsity Basketball Team:

Last night (12/9/97) I attended the Kaneland vs Westmont basketball game. A very entertaining game that was, unfortunately, won by your boys on a last second (actually 2 seconds) shot.

But, what was more entertaining was the fact that I did not observe any TRASH-TALKING like you would normally hear and see in a H.S. game.

I asked one player, my son, if I was not looking close enough for this lack of sportsmanship. Now keep in mind when I asked him he was still upset over their 5th straight loss - 4 of which have been close games. He told me that Kaneland played hard, physical basketball, but he never heard a word out of them that could even be misconstrued as TRASH-TALKING.

I commend the coaching staff, and the parents - you have done an outstanding job teaching, coaching, mentoring, and parenting.
