SPC Indoor Meet
Deb Lang gained team points in three individual events for Kaneland at the Suburban Prairie Conference indoor invitational meet at Oswego.
Lang, a junior placed second in the high jump with a height of five feet, finished fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 29.2 and was sixth in the triple jump soaring a distance of 29-10.
In the eight-team invitational, which winds up the indoor track season for the teams, Glenbard South outdistanced the field scoring 124 points to take first place. Oswego was second with 88; Sycamore third with 64; Batavia 50; Minooka 39; Kaneland 28; Plainfield 27; and Morris last with 11 points.
Kaneland captured two spots in several events. Jessica Johnson placed fifth in the triple jump with a 31-2 to go along with Lang's sixth-place finish.
And in the 800-meter run, Alex Self took fifth (2:41.0) and Kristi Reynolds a sixth (2:41.1 in a close finish.
Other Kaneland individual finishes for team points were Maranda Schenk taking fourth in the shot put with a 32-10, and Lindsey Kirwan taking sixth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:08.1.
In relay events, Kaneland's Kristi Reynolds, Shari Wenz, Alex Self and Jenny Baert took fourth in the 1600-meter with a 4:38.1.
A fifth-place finish in the 3200-meter run at 11:46 went to Tricia Overhaug, Emily Guthke, Lauren App and Heidi Striedl.
In a 4-by-1 lap relay, the Knights were sixth with Amy Dalton, Lisa Dalton, Lynda Gould and Baert crossing the line with a time of 1:38.3.
Stagg Invitational
The Lady Knights scored 29 points to finish seventh at the Stagg Invitational. Joliet won the meet with 122 points and many Lady Knights were away for spring break.
Kristi Reynolds (2:33.1) finished fourth in the 800-meters and Kelly Malone (4-8) was third in the high jump. Jessica Johnson (32-0) was third in the triple jump and the team of Jenny baert, Johnson, Shari Wenz and Reynolds (4:32.5) were fourth in the 1600-relay, while the team of Stef Stombres, Malone, Johnson, and Wenz were sixth in the 800-realy with 2:04.6).
Kaneland 76, Oregon 54
In a dual meet shortened due to lightning, (The 200 dash and 1600 relay were canceled). The Knights got a big performance out of their 800 medley relay team. Amy Dalton, April App, Lynda Gould and Kristi Reynolds who finished first with a time of 2:06.1. Individually, the Knights finished 5-3-1, while in the relay events, they finished 5-0 on the day.
Deb Lang made her presence known by taking first in the high jump, triple jump and the 100-meter dash. She beat out her competition by being two inches higher over the bar at 5-foot-2 in the high jump, seven seconds better with a 13.1 in the 100-meter, and one inch more than teammate Johnson with a 30-foot-1 triple jump.
Maranda Schenk paced the competition in the shot and discus. She tossed 31-7.5 feet for the shot, and spun 95-0 in the discus.
The foursome of Amy Dalton, April App, Lynda Gould and Kristi Reynolds breezed to a first in the 800-medley relay in a time of 2:06.1.
Kaneland's big point advantage came as a result of taking 1-2-3 in four events: the triple jump, 300 low hurdles, 800-meter run and 1600-meter run.
In the triple jump, it was Lang (30.1), Johnson (30.0) and Stacy Lettow (28.7).
Running the 300 low hurdles was Baert (52.3), Wenz (55.6) and Lettow (56.5).
Reynods (2:47.4), Alex Self (2:47.5) and Lindsay Kirwan (2:48.2) swept the 800-meter. Pacing the field in the 1600-meter were Kirwan (6:19), Emily Guthke (6:36) and Lauren App (6:38).
Kaneland Invitational
The Knights finished third in a 12 team field of division I schools. Kaneland hosted the meet to kick off their newly refurbished track and field facility, in which 26 division I and II schools attended on a beautiful Saturday.

Kaneland girls beat Yorkville 91 to 50. Deb Lang led the girls squad by capturing first in four events, and Maranda Schenk took two events as the girls placed first in 13 of 18 events.
Lang finished first in the 100 and 200 dash, cleared 5-feet-2 in the high jump and leaped 13-4 in the long jump. Schenk out-tossed everyone in the shot put with a 33-5 mark and in the discus with a 90-6.
