Kaneland Knights Football '99
After three games

Well, as usual the Knights like to break their football season into thirds.  The first third is usually a chance to find out how they stack up for the season.   This year is no different except that all the teams the Knights have played are currently 0-3.

Thus the real test of the armor of this year's team is in the middle of the season.  The Knights have 2 out of their next three games on the road.  The first is this Saturday at Evergreen Park.

The Mustangs are not as easy as the past Kaneland opponents.  They were ranked higher than the Knights earlier in year in the number 6 spot of Class 3A AP ratings.  That was after week 1.  On week two the Mustangs ran into Morris and got a good ole time shellacking losing 42-12 that dropped them out of the top ten.  It also made room for the Knights as after 2 games they found themselves in the top 10 for the first time this year, (see 3A rankings).

But the Knights have problems of their own with injuries to key players. However, this site is not going to be a scouting report for visiting teams and therefore injuries will not be discussed.

After EP the games don't get any easier, as Ridgewood comes to town.  Almost every Kaneland fan knows Ridgewood.  Of the Knights 31 straight win record only one school has come close the beating them - and that was Ridgewood.  And they almost did it twice.  So despite the fact Ridgewood is 1-2 and may not have the strongest team this year, they do seem to have the Knights number.

Then comes what looks to be a really big one!  The Knights have to travel to Yorkville to face the Foxes who are having a phenomenal season so far.  Going into their fourth game against Herscher this week they still have not allowed a point! They are the only other undefeated team in the SPC White outside the Knights.

And hey sports fans, the Foxes will be enjoying homecoming when the Knights come to town to add even more excite to the event.

So the key for the Knights season and future is going to be unveiled over the next three weeks.  And if you’re a Kaneland Knights football fan you aren't going to want to miss any of the three games in the heart of the season even if you have to drive all the way to Evergreen Park. (No TV this week, too.)

So the games to watch this week are Kaneland 3-0 at EP 2-1 and Herscher 2-1 vs Yorkville 3-0.  Man this is getting fun.
