Playoff Paradise

A collection of fans from throughout the state have gotten together to try and get a handle on who mostly likely will beat whom, and therefore play where. In so doing we have developed graphical brackets for both Class 3A and 4A, with projections on who we think has the best chance to win what games on the way to the state.

Kind of a fun thing, done by the fans for the fans.

Each week we will update the game results and re-calculate the projections. Also, as a helpful tip, try printing out the Class page for easier viewing.

Our record for the first week showed our true lack of knowledge in the southern 3A bracket. In 3A north we were 7-for-8, blowing the Marian CC game. But in the south we were only 2-for-8 which is terrible. Our friend from WONC-FM 89 Radio did a little better as he was at least .500, but he got only 3 right up north.

In week two we reversed our luck, missing the Byron over Marian and EP over Herscher games. In the southern bracket only Harrisburg surprised us.

In 4A we pretty well nailed it in week one, going 13-for-16.

In week two we really nailed 4A going 7-8, we just thought Joliet Catholic would handle Marmion, (as did most everybody else).

Class 4A

From Terry: Joliet over Marmion? Metamora over Mac? I don't think so.

From Jon: (The way I look at it), the CCL-White would have 3 of the final 4 teams. Not much of a doubt what the top 4A conference is.

Final 4: Mac, Metamora, Morris and Chatham-Glenwood
Final 2: Mac & Morris.

Class 3A

From Kevin: I like St. Francis over Herscher in the first round. I also like them over Evergreen Park in the second round. The rest of the picks look pretty good to me.

From Jon: The only thing I am worried about is Harrisburg beating Benton and throwing everything off.

From Dave: I honestly believe the IHSA can go ahead and give the Knights the 3A championship trophy, I think you will be playing Mt. Carmel for the title.

(South) Harrisburg, Newton, N.D., Nashville, Piasa, Pana, D.Q., and Mt.C
Final 8: Herscher, Kane, Johnsburg, Byron, Newton, Nashville, Pana, and Mt.C
Final 4: Kaneland, Byron, Nashville, and Mt.Carmel
Final 2: Kaneland and Nashville.

From Keith: Nashville and Mt. Carmel will play in the Southern bracket championship. Nashville will win that game.
