PREVIEW OF THE ELMWOOD PARK TIGERS

There's no question with just two wins in their pocket this year and only three wins all of last year, that a victory over Kanland would make the season for the Elmwood Park Tigers.

Last year the Knights didn't play the Tigers and actually to the best of our knowledge this is the first meeting ever for these teams.

Elmwood Park (2-4) doesn't possess the same high powered offense Kaneland has, but they have been known to play some pretty good defense. They shut out Westmont last week 35-0 and allowed only 26 and 27 points against tough opponents Sycamore and Herscher the two games earlier. They also shut out Luther North in their second game of the season.

The Tigers are coached Pete Binder has reasonable expectations for his class 4A team. A team that has to work hard to score points. In the three games prior to last Saturday's Westmont game the Tigers have averaged only 4.6 points a game.

The Tigers only real weapon is senior fullback Mike Manczko (6-1, 180), who rushed for 808 yards last season.

The game situation can be summed up this way. Three weeks ago Yorkville crushed EP 54-6 and then last week when Kaneland met Yorkville, the Knights shot down the Foxes 41-14!

So, as long as the Knights aren't looking ahead to Homecoming and the other Tiger's, (The Herscher Tigers) Elwood Park could do well to be the perfect host and let Kaneland continue it's 20 game winning streak.
