Dear Kaneland Fans,

I have become somewhat of a Kaneland football fan. I'm from Johnston City, Ill. (home of the Indians), and I try to go to the football championship games (1A-4A) each year. If the J.C. Indians get beat out, I generally follow the team from the 3A southern region.

In '97 that team was Harrisburg and I thought they had a legitimate chance to win the championship; they have a very good coach in Al Way. Then I saw the best high school football team that I have ever seen. The only reason Kaneland didn't win the 4A championship is because they played in 3A. I've been following Kaneland in the local newspaper when I can and I see that you are undefeated again this year.

I'm supporting Nashville from this area this year but I'm looking forward to seeing Kaneland again at Normal. If they are close to as good as last year I expect them to repeat as champs.

Good luck in your game against Spring Valley Hall and if Nashville loses their semifinal I will be supporting Kaneland all the way. Keep up the winning tradition at Kaneland and I will enjoy visiting your website.

A new Kaneland Knight fan,
Bruce Morneweg

Congratulations,

I am Steve Staker uncle of Bryan Staker. I'm the head football coach at Fredericksburf High School, Fredericksburg, Ia. You have done a great job with your Internet page. I emailed my brother to get the results of your playoff run and he said I needed to check this site. I enjoyed reading your post game writeup GOOD JOB!!!

Hopefully we can get to a playoff game. We saw the championship game last year and saw the Elmwood Park game this fall. Kaneland has an excellent team. they have such a good mix of offense, run or pass, and their defense looks just as tough.

Good luck as you seek to repeat as STATE CHAMPS.

Yours in football,
Coach Staker

As a friend of the Schrader family and a former Kaneland Graduate in Copenhagen, Denmark-we really look forward to checking the site every Sunday to see how Kaneland did and what heroics Kyle and Ryan might have contributed to cause.

Keep up the great work!!! We will watch from here on the internet all the way to the championship.

Your predictions looked very much like those that we Hall Red Devil fans predicted. The Byron game was a surprise but everything else is holding true to form. I think if we are to move through we would need to beat the favorite Kaneland team.

After seeing them twice I feel its possible but it would take a big game from Hall tailback/10.39 100 meter man D.J. Glynn on the outside and some poor passing from the Knights QB. Passing is a achilies for us but we held up well against a good attack from Lombard Montini.

I believe it will come down to tradition in any close quarter final games and that will favor both Hall ( 95 champs/96 runner up) and the 97 champs of Kaneland. Both teams know how to win the big games.

Good luck, we hope to see you in the semifinals.

Wow! You have created a truly tremendous site. It is worthy of the championship football team it covers.

I sure hope you are right about Pontiac being in 4A. They are a powerful team. They beat us soundly Friday night 56-20 for the Cornbelt Championship.

You are also right on target when you state we (Mahomet-Seymour) had better beat Mount Zion to make the playoffs. Really it's the first playoff game of the year for both teams - whoever wins goes to the playoffs - the loser looks to '99. They beat us 33-31 last year and I look for another barn burner. It helps that their all state tailback is playing for Eastern Illinois University now.

Good luck in the play-offs!

Sincerely,
Coach Pogue
Bulldogs O-line coach

Way to go Kaneland Knights on your win over Hersher. It was an excellent night for football!

Also, I commend whoever is responsible for creating and maintaining this web site. It's one of the best I've seen! I visit it often.

Hey Kaneland Buckaroos!

Remember me? My name is Luke Putzler, people call me Luke Putzler. First off, congratulations to that tenacious (that's a COLLEGE word) defense, and that rather efficient offense. It feels good rubbing it in to other students from the area that go to Augie. Especially that girl from Morris. Your just lucky that I'm not playing defense on the teams you're playing. Yeah, then you would have to score 60 points.

HI COACH DRENDEL. Do you have any idea how fast they run here?

Hey Lindsay (is that correct spelling?) Kirwan, get better you little whippersnapper!

And of course to Jenni, I'm going to run one for you. No wait, both seasons I will run for you.

Your humble servant and devoted alumn,
Lukey Putzler

The game was a very well played game. For me, two years in a row of losing by a slim margin was terrible.

And I would also like to tell you that our student council is sending money and putting donation cans up for the young girl who died. We are truly sorry that this happened to a student at your school.

You might have stopped Sam. But I ran all over your D in the second half. And your stud QB got dropped a few times.

You guys are tough. I promise we will see you again this year.

In behalf of the Junior and Senior class we would all like it if the Freshman and Sophomores would sit behind us in (the home football) games. We had to wait two years to sit with the rowdys and so should they.

Thank-You

GOOD LUCK KANELAND KNIGHTS

Hello everybody at Kaneland. Congratulations on your first victory over marengo. Way to go Kurt on scoring the first touchdown of the year.

I read about the winning streak. Keep it up.

Congratulations on also starting out ranked number one don't let go of it or let it go to your head. I wish I could be there to see the games and cheer you guys on but I guess the website will have to do for now. Well I just like to say good look to the 1998 football team and coaches and I hope for another successful year for the Kaneland football program.

Just surfing the web when your site caught my eye. It's outstanding. Being a Morris resident, and a Redskin fan, you should'nt sell yourselves short. In 1997 you proved you can compete with the larger schools.

Morris has been picked to win the Suburban Praire White this year, and I am sure if Kaneland was there, the conference would be up for grabs. The realignment rekindles the great rivalries of past seasons of the LITTLE 7 WITH schools like Oswego, Plainfield, Geneva, and the more recent battles with Minooka. Kaneland, I believe, also belongs there.

There is excellent football being played in the Suburban Praire Conferences this year. Morris just came of a great win vs. last weeks # 3 4A team, Pontiac, Minooka fought a tough battle with Bolingbrook, the # 3 team in 5A, Oswego totally dominated a perenial power in Romeoville, and Planfield despite losing 42-30 to Antioch, rolled up 468 yards in offense.

As of today, Morris is now # 3 in 4A, and you are #1 in 3A. To bad we'll both have to settle for, WHAT IF ????????

Good luck on your title defense.

John-A REDSKIN FAN.

Mr. Joe Thorgesen C/O : The Kaneland Knights Football Team

Hey Joey,

Well it's Thursday night and I was just thinking of how great it would be to be going to a Kaneland Knights Football Game on Friday. While I know that you and your coaches are well underway planning for the upcoming season, I would once again, like to thank you, your coaches, and the 1997 Football Team for a great time last season.

This season you, the coaches, the players, and their family will need to exercise patients and try not to place too much pressure and/or set too high of expectations of this years team. While I would love to see you and the boys go down state again. I would like to see you and the boys enjoy yourselves even more.

Have a great season, and I will see you in the trenches.

Respectfully; Ricky A. Thomas
