Rushing
Kyle Schrader, 1,712 yards rushing for 2061 total yards and 34 TD's. That
gives Kyle 3,271 yards rushing and 3,896 total yards in his Kaneland career and
53 total TD's.
"Schrader is our unsung hero," coach Joe Thorgesen says. "A
lot is said about our passing attack, but he provides us with a rushing
weapon."
But all three give credit to their and the team's success to the Knights
young and underrated offensive line. That being from left to right from your
quarterback set - Bryan Staker, Captain Keith Snyder, sophomore center Adam
Schultz, Will Schmidt, and Ron Easto.
Maybe they ought to be called the "Five Amigos"!
The Three Amigos hit the Big Time
Delaney, Fleck and Schrader All-State
The Sun-times named Quarterback Eric Delaney, Split End P.J. Fleck and
Linebacker Kyle Schrader to the Class 1A, 2A, 3A All-State starting team.
Coach Joe Thorgesen had this to say about the trio. " These three
kids, even though they had bull's-eyes on their backs every week, stepped up
and had career seasons. The pressure was on them and they handled it. And they
are great citizens, too. They are too good to be true. You can always count on
them".
Delaney is Athlete of the week
Quarterback Eric Delaney was one of three players named "Football
Athlete of the Week" by the Chicago Tribune after his stellar performance
against Evergreen Park last Saturday night in the IHSA Class 3A quarterfinals.
Delaney completed 14 of 19 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
Fleck named Small-school player of the
year
The Sun-Times named P.J. Fleck as their small-school Player of the year for
this football season.
"To me P.J. Fleck is the greatest receiver of all time," says his
coach Joe Thorgesen.
Fleck and Delaney named
All-State
P.J. Fleck and Eric Delaney continue to pile on the honors, being named to
the IHSFCA's starting All-State team representing Class 3A. Both are three year
starters and Fleck has been the SPC conference offensive MVP two years in a
row. Delaney meanwhile has just been named Chicago Tribune's Athlete of the
Week.
Fleck named to All-Area Starting
Team
P.J. Fleck continues to pile on the honors being named to the starting
All-Area team by the Sun-Times as a wide receiver.
Fleck a unanimous choice as the number one player in the Suburban Prairie
White has accounted for over 2,000 yards in pass receptions the last two years.
"He is the best receiver I've seen in 29 years'" says
Riverside-Brookfield coach Otto Zeman.
Linebacker Kyle Schrader and Quarterback Eric Delaney received special
mention on the All-Area team.
Kyle and P.J. - League MVP's
Kyle Schrader was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player of the year for
the Suburban Prairie White Conference. He was a unanimous selection by the
coaches after leading the Knights with 58 solo tackles and 39 assists in the
regular season.
Moreover, Kyle had three interceptions (two returned for TD's) and two
fumble recoveries.
On the other side of the ball, P.J. Fleck was voted as the Offensive MVP for
the SPC White for the second straight season.
"It's a great advantage to have such talented kids with that kind of
experience," says Coach Joe Thorgesen.
