Kaneland 12 Grant 8
With 4:47 left in the first quarter Mike Merfeld scored Kanelands first touchdown of the season. The extra point failed. Then with only a minute and a half left in the first half, Mike Sondelski recovered a grant fumble and ran it in for the final score. However, the game was still in doubt until Ben Rogers intercepted a Grant pass with only 1:30 left in the game to preserve the win.

Kaneland 16 Sycamore 6
Quarterback Colin Nolan completed two first half passes for Touchdowns. Mike Merfeld scored on Kanelands first touchdown and a little later Mike Behrens caught another. Both times Kaneland went for the two point conversion and were successful both times. In the second half Sycamore tighten up their defense and managed to score a TD, but the conversion failed and Kaneland came home with a victory.

Kaneland 12 Glenbard South 21
Kaneland's offense sputtered all day until the last 4 minutes when they scored two touchdowns, but it was too little too late, as Glenbard South won 21-12. With 4 minutes left in the game Ben Rogers grabbed a Quarterback Colin Nolan pass after it hit a defender for a 60 yard Kaneland touchdown. The PAT failed.
Then with one second left in the game Nolan hit Mike Behrens from ten yards out as the gun sounded. There was no extra point try as the game had ended. It was the team's first loss of the season. They are now 2-1.

Kaneland 0 Morris 20
Kaneland's offense sputtered for the second week in a row, having a tough time just getting first downs against the Redskins defense. The Knights defense was on the field a long time and did well to hold Morris to just 20 points. As a result the Knight's record dropped to 2-2.

Kaneland 8 Yorkville 22
Kaneland scored their first touchdown in two games with a nifty halfback option pass from Mike Merfeld to Scott Pitstick with a minute left in the third quarter. Colin Nolan then hit Merfeld for the two point conversion. However, the Knights where not a able to score again despite Yorkville losing the ball at their own 22 yard line on a bumbled punt attempt.

Kaneland 28 Ridgewood 12
The sophomores beat Ridgewood 28-12, leveling their record to 3-3, by scoring a touchdown in every quarter. Kaneland's first score came on a Ben Rogers fumble recovery in the end zone. Colin Nolan hit Mike Behrens for a 29 yard TD in the second quarter, Rogers scored again this time on a 24 yard run in the third, and Nolan added a 10 yard TD carry in the fourth.

Kaneland 6 Herscher 16
The sophomores lost to Herscher 16-6 Friday night, dropping the Knights to 3-4 for the season. The Knights had a 6-0 half time lead, thanks to a 37 yard Colin Nolan touchdown pass to Mike Behrens. The extra point try failed. Herscher then scored touchdowns in each of the final two quarters, adding successful two point conversions to each.

Kaneland 21 Evergreen Park 0
The sophomores beat Evergreen Park with a solid first quarter. Mike Merfeld scored from 10 yards out and David Issel throw to Matt McGinnis for the 2-point conversion. Then Issel intercepted a Mustang pass and returned it 25 yards for the Knights second touchdown of the quarter. Issel's pass for the conversion failed.
Issel ran for another touchdown early in the forth quarter from 11 yards out and Josh Dimitri kicked the extra point. With the Mustangs driving, Will Schmidt put a hard hit on a Mustang running back causing a fumble and Shawn Fuller recovered it to cement the win for the Knights. The Sophomore Knights are now 4-4.

Kaneland 36 Westmont 0
The sophomores finished the 1997 season with a winning record 5-4, beating Westmont 36-0. Ryan Schrader ran 10 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and two minutes later he added another, this time from 24 yards out. QB Colin Nolan ran for the 2-point conversion after the second TD for a 14-0 Kaneland half time lead.
In the third quarter a host of Knights tackled the Westmont quarterback in the end zone for a safety and on the ensuing kick Robert McGinnis returned it all the way for a Kaneland touchdown for a 22-0 Kaneland lead.
In the 4th quarter Tony Signorella ran 14 yards for a TD and Mike Merfeld added yet another touchdown from 32 yards out. Ron Easto ran in the 2-point conversion on Kaneland's final touchdown.
