I would just like to congradulate the football team on an awsome season! Even though I am no longer a Knight, Rosary Royal proud and strong :-), I still wish you guys the best of luck in your two remaining games. And to my fomer class of '98-- go kick some butt like I always knew you would!!!

I do miss you all back at Kanleand and every time I pick up the Beacon, I am drawn to the sports page to find out how my three favorite schools are doing: Marmion, Rosary, and Kaneland...

Keep up the great work! Meg Ward- Rosary Class of '98

First of all I want to comend (like so many have already) coach Thorgesen and the guys for their tremendous season.

I only have one suggestion: THROW IT TO BILLY! You can't miss him. He's the guy 30 yards down field before Delaney finishes his drop.

Thanks again guys,
Hund Ein.

Well hopefully you guys can win this week.Going down to ISU is just a great time for someone who likes HS football. In 88 Herscher made it down there and I was going to ISU at the time...And I have been going down ever since.

If you are planning on going down it might be a good idea and try to find a room before this weekend...Once people see their team is going to ISU everyone and their brother will be trying to find a place to stay..A lot depends on what teams make it.....Teams like Pontiac , Metamora, Morris, PC and Mac will not have a lot of people staying over. But ones like Duquoin and Woodstock probably will.

Hey there fellow knights! This is Kim Washburn, '97 grad. It was so cool to find out how good you guys are doing this season. I can't believe you guys are going to the damn state quarterfinals! That is so kick-ass.

Over here at West Point we are also the Kinghts, but we are the Black Knights. I thought it was pretty cool to still be a Knight! Anyway, good job in beating Morris and now that you have gotten this far, you gotta take it all.

"In order to succeed, we must first believe we can" -- You guys can definatly do it!!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that I think that the football team is awesome and I can't wait until I come home so that I can see you guys play a game or two!! The last game I saw was Morris, and being a 96 grad, you all know how hard it was for us to lose to Morris. It was the greatest feeling to see the team so happy after that long awaited win this year. Also, congrats to coach Thorgasen and coach Kearney!

Dear Knight fans, It's so exciting to see Kaneland doing awesome for the 3rd year in a row. I know that Saturday night they will beat Lisle. Who would of thought that we would be undefeated, win conference, and have an excellent chance to go down state? Good Luck Knights!

Congratulations to the varsity football team and coaches!! Undefeated season, second seed in the playoffs, and in a very good spot for a state championship -- who'd a thunk it? I recall just a few years ago our first stint in the playoffs. I wish I could have been there to see it all. Keep up the good work. I'm rooting for ya.

Dear Knights,

Good Luck in the playoffs. Do it for the Stills. I knew Mr. Jeff Still. He was a teacher at my school, Granger. I'm in seventh grade and although I didn't have him as a teacher, I still saw him around school. I went to the Jeff Still Camp of Dreams this summer at Waubonsie Valley High School which your coach, Coach Thorgeson, attended. I just want to wish them luck in the playoffs.

Sincerly, Andy

First I would like to congratulate your football team on their victory over "Morris". Being a diehard Metamora football fan I keep track of teams we have played in the playoff before and could match up with in the future. I have enjoyed following the progress of your football team on the web and can tell the people in your area really get into their Kaneland football.

If the Knights end up in the 4A bracket at playoff time I hope we get a chance to play against each other. What I have read on your web site I'm pretty sure you have a class organization and it would be geat football atmosphere.

Good luck in whatever class you end up in!

This is Dwain Nance and I graduated in 1994. I go to Illinois State and I am a senior studying Math Education. I student teach next semester. I am glad to see our football team undefeated. Coach Thorgeson and Coach Kearny must be excited. I know being 6-0 is better than what we went we I was a junior and especially when I was a senior.

I hope to see you guys make itall the way down here so I can see you guys play. I miss those nights of playing football and even though they were hard then the practices too. I am glad to see other people responses on the home page. Since I moved to Clinton I hardly talk to anyone from there now. Well good luck on the rest of the season in football. Dwain

(Editors note: This letter is from a Herscher fan.)

I did not make it up there last nite...42-0????? Yikes.... I have been going to these games since about 78 and that is one of the biggest whoopins we have taken. I remember Providence beat us 51-14 about 5 years ago....Herscher made it to the semis that year in 3A..but they are in a league of there own..

I talked to one of our coaches this morning and he said if you guys go 3A you have a shot at it...He saw Hall play Pontiac and he told me that he feels you guys would beat them...

Well good luck the rest of the year and hopefully we will be get our program back to were it was and be able to compete in the next few years...

From: Dwain Nance <danance@rs6000.cmp.ilstu.edu>

Hello, This is Dwain Nance and I graduated in 1994. I like to see the Kaneland football team go to 7-0. It is awesome to see that we are finally winning. I go to Illinois State and I am studying math education. I will student teach next semester.

Coach Thorgeson must be proud of the football team this year to beat Morris. Coach Kearny is an awesome coach, because from what I here the defense is unbeleivable good. Coach Thorgeson and Kearny taught me a lot at Kaneland and the one thing that they taught me was never to give up even if we are down 35-0. Football has taught me valuable lessons in life. Coach Thorgeson will always have a place in my heart.

But in all it started freshman year. Coach Larson and Kearny. They motivated me so much. Coach Larson was a good coach even though it was his first year at Kaneland but the person always there to put him in his place was Coach Kearny. I believe Coach Kearny is the best COACH!!! in the entire world. He knows how to motivate the players along with his knowledge. He takes what players are availible to him to make the best defense that is availible.

If we could stop fumbling the ball on offense maybe the Kaneland Knights will be playing down in Normal this year where I am.

Let's talk about this new conference. Yes it is great that we are winning a lot of games and it is great. But it happens too much that people say that Kaneland Football has always have not been that good. They are wrong. We have always been in with the best of the best competition. Yes we used to play Morris and we still do and we beat them but I do not think you will see Morris making it downstate this year. Yorkville, well maybe, Kaneland has gotten better, better talent. P.J. Fleck is an animal. We have not seen such a good player go through the system since maybe Brian Studdard. But when did Brian have all the help to go as far as the Knights are now.

So to sum it all up the Knights are blessed with raw talent and an easier conference to make the mixture of 7-0. Do not get me wrong the Knights are good, really good. But think back to the time of Ryan Larson, Tim Weiss, Derek Wagner, and many more when they played the number one ranked team in the state, MORRIS. You do not see the Knights playing that good of team these days.

Kaneland football is always going to make the playoffs as long as they stay in the conference they are in now because they have always been good enough to make it to the playoffs it is just that the opponents have always been able to tell if the KNIGHTS are going to the playoffs. Well anyhow good luck and HOPE to see you down year.
