2000 Preseason Review

EDGYTIM INTERNATIONAL'S 2000 PREDICTIONS

Suburban Prairie White
Favorites: Kaneland, Evergreen Park, Herscher, Yorkville

Kaneland suffered through an injury plagued season in 1999, yet still wound up in the playoffs in 1999! Look for the Knights, led by RB Ben Rogers and LB Shawn Fuller, to use that experience from 1999 to take the lead spot in the White in 2000.

Evergreen Park remains one of HS football's best stories. Surrounded by many private schools that pull from EP yearly, head coach Brett Nelson and staff has done a masteful job of bringing EP Mustang football from the dead. RB Mark Sizemore and LB Luke Schillo lead a solid returning core.

Herscher? The proverbial 5-4/4-5 team is set to break thru in 2000 and has loads of returning starters for 2000, including QB Josh Wakey (6'2" 195) who impressed in the 7 on 7 tours.

Yorkville also had a solid run in 1999 and will be hit by graduation, but how hard?

Sycamore returns QB Josh Evans (6'2" 180) and will again be a solid team. Lemont has a good core of linemen returning, but the skills?

Sleeper Team? Herscher. The Tigers were exceptionally impressive at Pontiac this summer, and QB Josh Wakey has a cannon. It was fun to watch Montini and Herscher go head to head in the summer passing league at pontiac. If the Tigers get some defense, the skills can carry this 4-5/5-4 team a long ways!

Sleeper player? QB Josh Evans Sycamore. Evans too looked good in the summer tours and has good size and feet as well. The Spartans will again be able to put up some points in 2000!

Toughest schedule? Evergreen Park again gets the nod. EP will open Week 1 at home against Marmion, the get the honor of traveling to Morris in Week 2! The Mustangs also get Kaneland and Yorkville on the road and host Herscher at home in Week 9!

Playoff possibles? Kaneland/Evergreen Park are strong, Herscher and Yorkville will battle for a third playoff spot.
