Kaneland won the prestigious Prietzel Invitational on the Highland College course in Freeport, scoring 96 points to edge Oregon by two points in the 13 team field.
Kaneland's top runner was Jeremiah Milliman, who was seventh (16:31) in the 3-mile course. "I like the way Milliman and Ray Pulford (12th in 16:46) are going out with the lead pack and sticking with them", said Kaneland coach Chad Clarey.
Kaneland's girls ran second in a 12-team field, led by Jenni Kirwan's ninth place finish (2.2 miles) in 14:24 and Chrissy Fitzpatrick's 13th place in 14:40.
"The girls did an excellent job on Saturday. All 6 girls ran personal best on their home course, earning all conference honors. It was a very satisfying way for seniors Chrissy Fitzpatrick and Megan deRaismes to end their conference running careers. Monica Poole and Cara Lippold did well in the JV Race".
