GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Season

After four games with virtually the same score the Varsity Lady Knights ran into a buzz saw Saturday at Morris and ended up with their fifth straight loss, 71-29. With the loss the Knights dropped to 7-10 for the season, and 1-3 in the conference.

After 16 games Deb Lang is leading the Knights with an 9.9 scoring average while grabbing a team leading 3.8 rebounds a game. Jamie Zylinski is second in scoring averaging 6.0 and third in rebounds with 3.2. Addie Sauber is fourth is scoring with 5.6 points a game and tied with Lang for the team lead in rebounds averaging 3.8 rebounds a game. Alex Self leads in assists with 55 and steals at 40. Mary Richardson is second in assist with 38 and third in steals (26). Stacy Lettow is third in scoring with 5.8 points a game, fourth in boards at 3.0, second in steals with 35 and third in assists with 28. Alicia Brown is just behind Zylinski and Lettow with 2.8 rebounds a game.

The Sophomore Lady Knights also lost to Morris Saturday to move to 9-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

After 15 games the Sophomore Lady Knights are showing balanced scoring, headed up by Andrea Schuppner with 7.4 points a game, Elizabeth Kresse with 6.8 points, and Jamie Fitzpatrick who adds 5.3 points a game. Leading rebounders are Schuppner with 6.1, Kresse with 6.0, Fitzpatrick with 4.3 and Traci Genslinger who is hauling down 3.3 boards a game. Stacey Blatner is leading the team with 38 assists and 38 steals. Schuppner is second in assists (28) and steals (33). Kresse is third in assists (18) and third in steals (19).

Meanwhile the Freshmen lady Knights lost their first game of the year to Morris Saturday 41-25. The lost ended a 13 game winning streak and dropped their record to 13-1 for the season and 3-1 in the conference. The three previous games were won on fourth quarter comebacks.

After 13 games Shari Wenz leads the Freshmen Lady Knights in scoring averaging 9.0 points a game, rebounding with 7.8, steals (44) and Assists (20). Stephiane Schramer is second in scoring at 7.3 and assists (18). Emily Kresse is third in scoring with 5.2 points, third in rebounds with 4.1 and second in steals (34). Lynda Gould is second in rebounding with 4.2 and third in assists (9). Ana Miller is third in thefts (31) and a close fourth in assist (8). Kristi Reynolds is a close fourth in rebounds with 3.0 a game.
