First Half Summary

The First half of season saw a lot of up and downs for the Knights as they played a little better than .500 ball at 6-5 and 3-3 in the conference. However, there were many signs during the Plano Tournament that indicated the Knights are going to play a higher level of basketball the second half.

In the first half the Knights had 3 players averaging over 10 points a game. Wayne Shaw rang up 12.1 points a game, Joe Montanez is right behind with 11.8 and Rob Bieritz is at 11 points a game. Pat Albrecht scored 8 a game.

Shawn Fuller is the Knights leading rebounder with 6.5 boards a game. Bieritz has 4 and Albrecht 3 a game. Bieritz also leads in steals with 11 and assists with 19.

Other stats of interest is Matt Nelson is 6-for-6 from the line and Bieritz is shooting a whooping 53% on 3-pointers. Bieritz leads the team in shooting percentage with 54.8. Bieritz also leads the team in turnovers and fouls.

Game 11
Kaneland 66 Plano 49

Kaneland went over the .500 mark in the Suburban Prairie White Conference with a 61-33 pounding of Elmwood Park to kick of the second half of the season

The Knights (7-5, 4-3 in the conference) cruised to the win as the Tigers went a horrendous 12-for-45 (26 percent) form the field for the game and missed 12 of their first 13 shots to start the third quarter. Coincidently, that's when the Knights blew the game wide open.

The Knights led 31-18 at halftime before going on a 15-0 run to start the third period. Elmwood Park (3-10, 0-7 in SPC) didn't score its first basket of the second half until there was 1:40 to go in the quarter.

"I couldn't draw it out much better than that," said coach Ken Neahring. "I was real pleased. I thought we executed pretty well on offense. I was real pleased defensively and on the boards."

Nine players scored for the Knights, who were paced by Pat Albrecht's 14 points. Wayne Shaw and Shawn Fuller pitched in with 11 points each. Fuller also added nine rebounds.

The Sophomores improved their impressive record to 11-3 and 6-1 in the SPC by beating the Tigers easily 53-27. The Tigers were just no match for the Knights. Shawn McKeown lead Kaneland with 16 points and Brent Harner added 10 more. Josh Jordan rang up 7 points and 7 other players scored between 4 and 2 points each.

Game 12
Kaneland 48 Evergreen Park 43

Kaneland defeated Evergreen Park by five points. It was a close game the hole way through. Kaneland started out strong out scoring Evergreen Park 14-8. In the second quarter Evergreen Park rallied back scoring 18 to Kanelands 15. The third quarter was a tight one with Evergreen Park outscoring Kaneland by one 9-8. In the fourth quarter the Knights hung on strong coming up with 11 to Evergreen Park's 8. The Knights came out triumphant. Their conference record is now 8-5.

High scorers for the Knights were Pat Albrecht with 18, Rob Bieritz with 11, and Wayne Shaw with 8. The Knights keep improving every game.

The Sophomores fell to Everygreen Park losing 41-33. This game brings the Knights conference record to 6-2. High scorers were Shawn McKeown and Eric Snyder with 8 points each and Brent Harner brought in 7.

Game 13
Kaneland 46 Ridgewood 43

Kaneland improved their conference record to 9-5 when they beat Ridgewood 46-35. Kaneland was looking sharp tonight out-scoring Ridgewood by almost double 13-7. Ridgewood faught back in the second quarter, trying to overcome their six point defesit, by outscoring Kaneland 8-5. In the third quarter Ridgewood outscored Kaneland again 12-9. In the fourth quarter the Knights were incrediable. They came out with the bug guns. They outscored Ridgewood 19-6. The Knights improved their record and looked good doing it. Final score 46-35.

High scorers for the Knights were Scott Pitstick with a whoping 16 points. He had 1 3-pointer, and was 7-9 from the line. Next up was Shaun Fuller who added 13 more points to the Knights score, and Pat Albrecht added an additional 9 points for the Knights.

The Sophomores also defeated Ridgewood 38-31. This win brings their conference record to 7-2. First quarter they outscored Ridgewood 8-6. Second quarter they were outscored by Ridgewood 13-7. Third quarter they rallied back racking up 14 points to Ridgewoods 6 points. Fourth quarter the Knights stayed ahead outscoring 9-6. High scorers were Shawn McKeown isth 11 points, Kevin Probst and Brent Harner both added 7 more.

Game 14
Kaneland 63 Burlington Central 53

The Knights defeated the Rockets on Tuesday. This game for the first time in a long time was a non-conference game. Though it was not a conference game it was still filled with the sme drama and emotion. The Knights came out strong at the beginning outscoring the Rockets 15-9. The second quarter Kaneland outscored their opponent again 13-11. At the half the Knights leaded 27-20. In the Second half the Knights outscored Burlington 35-33. A tight game in parts left the Knights feeling good with their 63-53 win over Burlington Central.

Scott Pitstick's three-pointer with 2 minutes, 14 seconds left in the game put the Knights ahead 56-53. pitstick and Pat Albrecht each scored 14 points for the victors, and Rob Bieritz and Wayne Shaw each added 11 points. Final score Knights 63 Rockets 53.

The Sophomores also defeated Burlington Centeral 57-42. First quarter they were outscored by Burlington Central 14-15. Second quarter they outscored Burlington 14-10. Third quarter they racked up10 points to Burlingtons 6 points. Fourth quarter the Knights stayed ahead outscoring 19-11. High scorers were Kevin Probst with 16 points, Eric Snyder with 15 poitns, and Brent Harner with 10 points.both added 7 more.

Game 15
Kaneland 71 Marengo 56

The Knights defeated the Indians on Friday. The Knights came out at the beginning winning by 5 points the score 18-13. The second quarter Kaneland showed the Indians who was boss with a 15-6 score. At the half the Knights were feeling good. In the third quarter the Knights outscored Marengo again 15-12. The Knights lost a little heat in the fourth, they were finally beaten 25-23, but still took the victory!.

Pat Albrecht sunk in a whopping 16 points. Along his side was Ryan Schrader with a total of 13 points. Shawn Fuller also helped a lot with 11 points! Wish the Knights luck in thier next game against Yorkville.

The Sophomores also defeated Marengo 63-54. First quarter they were outscored barely 14-12. Second quarter they outscored The Indians 18-14. Third quarter they racked up17 points to Marengo's 6 points. Fourth quarter the Knights lagged behind being outscored 20-16. High scorers were Shawn McKeown with 17 points, Scott Miller with 13 points, and Eric Snyder with 12 points.

Game 16
Yorkville 78 Kaneland 68

The Knights were defeated by the Foxes on Tuesday. The Knights came out at the beginning barely outscoring the Knights 22-20. The second quarter Kaneland was outscored by far with Foxes 27-16. At the half the Knights were down 13-11. In the Second half the Knights outscored Yorkville 13-11. The Knights left a little dissapointed with their total 68-78 loss to Yorkville.

Rob Biertiz was on fire and scored a total of 19 points! Runner up for the high scores was Pat Albrecht with 12 points. All the Kinghts needed were a few more points and they could have won the game. Wish the Knights luck in thier next game against Westmont!!

The Sophomores were defeated byYorkville 52-43. First quarter they were outscored by the Foxes 14-8. Second quarter they outscored Yorkville 17-9. Third quarter they scored 8 points, being beaten by the Foxes with 11 points. Fourth quarter the Knight stayed ahead outscoring 10-9. High scorers were Kevin Probst with 12 points, Eric Snyder with 11 poitns, and Shawn McKeown with 8 points.

Game 17
Wesmont 83 Kaneland 69

The Knights were defeated by the Sentinels on Friday. The Knights came out at the feeling good but lost the quarter 19-7. The second quarter Kaneland was outscored by far with Foxes 25-16. The third quarter both teams tied with 19-19. In the fourth the Knights outscored the Sentinels 27-20. The Knights left a little dissapointed with their total 83-69 loss to Westmont.

Rob Biertiz was on fire once again and scored a total of 19 points! Runner up for the high scores was Ryan Schrader with 12 points. And adding 10 points to the score, Matt Clement. Pray for Knights in thier next game against Lemont.

The Sophomores were defeated by Westmont 44-33. First quarter they were outscored by the Sentinels 4-10. Second quarter they outscored the Sentinels 8-9. Third quarter they scored 10 points, beating Westmont with 5 points. Fourth quarter the Knight were outscored 20-11. High scorers for the game were Shawn McKeown with 13 points, and Kevin Probst with 12 points!

Game 18
Lemont 55 Kaneland 47

The Knights were defeated by the Engines on Tuesday. The Knights came out in the 1st racked up some points, then lost the quarter 15-11. The second quarter Kaneland outscored Lemont by one point 12-11. In the third quarter the Engines outscored the Knights again 10-6. In the fourth, the Knights were outscored for the last time, again by one point, leaving it 19-18. Final score 55-47. The Knights left thinking about the close game. Better luck next time!

Rob Biertiz again and scored the high mark at a total of 16 points. Runner up for the high scores was Ryan Schrader with 13 points. And adding 10 more points to the score, Wayne Shaw.


Game 19
Sycamore 50 Kaneland 49

The Knights were defeated by Sycamore on Friday, but a VERY close game! In the 1st, Kaneland scored 8 points, but not enough to beat Sycamores 10 points. The second quarter was just the same Kaneland 10 Sycamore 15. The second Half Kaneland started to turn it up a little and outscored Sycamore12-10. In the fourth all the Guys pushed for the last point to beat Sycamore, but couldn't catch up in time. Final score, and a close game, 50-49 Sycamore.

Rob Biertiz again had the high score at a total of 11 points. Runner up for the high scores was Matt Clement with 10 points. And adding 9 more points to the score, Ryan Schrader.

The Sophomores defeated Sycamore on Friday 45-25. First quarter they outscored the Sycamore 9-4. Second quarter they outscored Sycamore 16-4. Third quarter they where finally overtaken, and were defeated. Score: Sycamore 11 Kaneland: 30. Fourth quarter the Knights outscored Sycamore by 9 points 15-6. High scorers for the game were Eric Snyder with 11 points, and Nik Augusten with 9 points.

Game 20
Elmwood Park 68 Kaneland 57

The Knights were defeated Elmwood park, but it was a close game! In the first, Kaneland scored 11 points Elmwood Park 10. In the second quarter Elmwood Park outscored Kaneland 18-11. The third quarter, Kaneland was outscored again to Elmwood Park 19-11. In the fourth they started to catch up, but Kaneland's score of 57 wasn't good enough for Elmwood Park's 68.

High scores for this game: Pat Albrecht with 12 points, Rob Biertiz with total of 12 points, And Ryan Schrader, adding 9 more points to the score.

The Sophomores defeated Elmwood park 55-45. First quarter they outscored Elmwood park 13-8. Second quarter they outscored the Elmwood park 12-11. Third quarter they, again, outscored Elmwood park 15-10. Fourth quarter the Knights outscored Elmwood Parkfor the last time 17-16. Highs for the game were Kevin Probst with 20 points, and Eric Snyder with 13 points.

Game 21
Morris 52 Kaneland 38

First quarter, Morris came out strong and scored 16 points defeating Kaneland. Second quarter The Redskins outscored the Knights 12-6. Third quarter the Knights 10 points was close, but not close enough to Morris' 15 points. Fourth quarter the Knights outscored the Redskins for the first time 10-9. Highs for the game were Eric Snyder with 17 points, and Kevin Probst with 13 points.

Game 22
Kaneland 49 Westmont 44

First quarter Westmont outscored Kaneland 10-8. Second quarter Westmont outscored the Knights again 15-12. Third quarter the Knights made a comeback and outscored Westmont 17-11. Fourth quarter the Knights defeated Westmont and took the game 12-8. Highs for the game were Kevin Probst with 21, and Eric Snyder with 15 points.

Game 23
Evergreen Park 69 Kaneland 54

First quarter Evergreen Park outscored Kaneland 24-14. Second quarter was a tie 13-13. Third quarter Evergreen Park outscored the Knights 13-11. Fourth quarter, the Knights were defeated by Evergreen Park 19-16. Highs for the game were Eric Snyder with 17 points, and Kevin Probst with 15 points.

Game 24
Oswego 42 Kaneland 28

First quarter Oswego outscored Kaneland 10-4. Second quarter Oswego again outscored Kaneland 14-6. Third quarter The Knights beat Oswego 11-10. Fourth quarter, the Knights were defeated in a close quatrer 8-7. Highs for the game were Brent Harner with 10 points, and Eric Snyder with 7 points.

Game 25
Kaneland 64 Riverside-Brookfield 61

The Knights defeated Riverside-Brookfield on Tuesday. In the first, Kaneland scored 17 points, Riverside-Brookfield scored 13 points. In the second quarter The Bulldogs just barely outscored Kaneland 13-12. Kaneland outscored Riverside-Brookfield by just one point, in the third quarter, 18-17. In the fourth, Riverside-Brookfield again outscored The Knights just barely 18-17. This was a close game!

High scores for this game: Wayne Shaw with 21 points!!! Runner up, Pat Albrecht with total of 17 points, and Rob Biertiz with 13 points.

First quarter, the Knights outscored Riverside-Brookfield 16-14. Second quarter Kaneland again outscored The Bulldogs again 14-11. In the third quarter, The Knights were outscored 15-13. Last quarter the Knights topped it off with 24-15. Ending score was 67-55 Knights! Highs for the game were, Shawn McKeown with 22 points, and Kevin Probst with 18 points.

Game 26
Ottawa 58 Kaneland 45

The Knights were defeated by Ottawa in the first round of The Sterling Class AA Sectional. Sixth-seeded Ottawa scored the first 11 points and went up 17-2 after opening five minutes enroute to a 58-45 victory over the 12th-seeded Knights in the Sterling Scetional.

In the first quarter, the Pirates scored 20 points, The Knights only scored 10 points. A close second quarter, Ottawa just barely outscored Kaneland by one basket, 12-10. The third quarter The Knights defense wouldn't let the Pirates score, the quarter ended with a tie 8-8 . In the fourth, Again a tie! Both teams tied 17-17.

High scores for this game are Wayne Shaw with 13 points. Rob Biertz with 11, and Scott Pitstick with total of 17 points, and Rob Biertiz with 13 points.
